Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States. The above is a reprint from Wikipedia. When you celebrate this special day remember it represents FREEDOM to do and become what we desire to become.
As Realtors® we also have independence in that we are independent contractors. This doesn’t mean we have the freedom to do everything just like we want to because Realtors®, whether sales associates or broker associates, all work under the umbrella of a qualifying broker. I think many active real estate agents lose sight of this important fact. So many agents act as if they were the qualifying broker. They never disclose to the consumer that they represent the broker and the broker is actually representing the consumer. We are acting on behalf of the broker, and we have to adhere to the brokers decisions.
Since the property owner or prospective buyer deals with the sales person, they think they are being represented by them rather than their broker. This really comes to light when a Realtor® decides to relocate from one brokerage firm to another. In the area I live, that sales person normally takes their listing with them to the new company. In Alabama, the broker owns the listing and can deny the sales person to move the listing to another company. We should always properly disclose whom represents whom when listing as selling real estate. This helps the consumer develop confidence in both the sales person and the brokerage.
As Realtors® we enjoy our independence as it relates to our professional careers. We work for ourselves. In a sense we write our own paychecks. There are no limitations placed on us as to how much business we can generate. Selling real estate is all about establishing relationships. The more relationships we establish, the more sales we’ll close, resulting in a higher income. I find it especially rewarding to know that success of my career is totally up to me. I can become as successful as I want to become, or I can nothing and starve. I don’t have to wait for a boss to decide that I am worthy of a raise, or a promotion.
If you work for someone else and you’re totally dependent on them to increase your salary or improve your work conditions, you might think about making a career change. Enjoy your independence in a real estate career. Alabama Real Estate Institute provides specialized classes for obtaining real estate licenses in Alabama. Not only do we offer Alabama real estate courses, but we also provide interested parties all the Alabama real estate license requirements. Upon completion of the Alabama real estate courses, we assist the student in setting up and completing the state exam. We make your career change as easy as possible. Independence Day for me is a huge occasion. This is the day that we need to celebrate our freedom as an American and I think this is also a day to relax and enjoy. I really enjoy the Independence Day!
